Cyprus Bird watching Tours - BIRD is the WORD. Sightings 25/02/16
On hearing of the countries 8th Record White-Crowned Wheatear a coast to coast twitch was in order. I headed to Cape Greco with my friend Tony, and we saw the stunning bird after roughly 10 minutes. A juvenile (noted by slightly brown tint to the upper wings and lack of a white crown - although three white feathers were showing). A fun wheatear to watch and similar behaviour to our Cyprus Wheatears. There wasn't much else around at Cape Greco although I am told if we stayed there 10 more minutes we would have seen the 3 Trumpeter Finch that have been present there since January. We then headed to the Sea Caves, and the to the Ayia Napa Sewage Pools which seems to have vanished, Paralimni Lake which was dry aside a few puddles and then on to Oroklini. Oroklini had immense water levels but as always a highly non-enjoyable site concerning the poorly placed hide which faces the sun all the time! I also had a quick browse around Akrotiri on the way back which was incredibly devoid of life!
